The Joy Board met on December 20, 2021 to consider the fully vaccinated status attendees at "Worship and religious rites ceremonies and passed the following motion:
"Effective immediately, in keeping with God’s love, anyone 12 years of age and above must be fully vaccinated, have a medical exemption or if non-vaccinated complete a Covid Rapid Test at their own expense, if free kits are not available, (night before or morning of) prior to attending worship services at DSUC (unless it is an absolute emergency, like a repair person or a first responder).
On January 3, 2022, the Ontario government announced that we were going back to a modified STEP 2 of their reopening plan at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Our church capacity would be reduced to 50% or in our case we can accommodate 112 attendees. As well any meeting or gathering would be limited to 5 people. These changes are in effect for at least, 21 days.
Our Biblical Story is from John 15: 1 - 8, "Jesus the True Vine"
"I am the true vine and my Father is the vine grower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them, bear much fruit, because apart from me, you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers, such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples."
All that we do, all that we are, is rooted in faith and Christian Scripture. Therefore, we have "our Bible story", one that we claim as ours as we journey together into the future.
A vision is intended to draw a picture of the future- it is our "vision," the place, where we, with God's help, want to be. (We're not there yet, that's why we need this map or blueprint!) But we also need some tangible or concrete goals to help us get there and so we have developed a series of objectives based on our Vision Statement.
